Samsung announced today a new standard internal solid-state drive, the Samsung SSD 850 Evo. The new storage device turns out to be an ideal replacement drive for most home applications, especially for Windows users.
The Samsung SSD 850 Evo is an upgrade to the 840 Evo that came out in March.
This new drive is very similar to the high-end Samsung 850 Pro that came out in June. It's the second SSD from Samsung that uses 3D NAND Flash memory.
The drive is 7mm thick.
This is a standard internal 2.5-inch drive that supports SATA 3 (6Gbps) and also works with previous versions of SATA.
The new drive is avaialble in four capacities of 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB and has the suggested retail price in the US of $100, $150, $270 and $500. (Samsung hasn't announced the pricing for the UK and Australia at this time, but the drive will be available worldwide.)
