As is the norm for this class of cameras, the A2100 IS shines at ISO sensitivities below ISO 200. Though there is some graininess/noise at all ISOs, it becomes readily noticeable at ISO 400, but for the most part detail remains good. Actually, you can get up to ISO 800 and still have a usable photo at smaller sizes, as long as you're OK with the reduced detail and clarity.
Purple fringing is common in this type of shot, and while it seems like a lot is produced by the A2100, it is actually average for compact digital cameras. Certainly at its sub-$250 price point.
Some pretty obvious barrel distortion on the left side at the A2100's widest setting.
The A2100 has reasonably good center sharpness. The camera's Auto ISO selected ISO 160 for this shot, keeping fine details intact.
Taken at ISO 160 using the camera's Smart Auto feature. It's a little softer off-center, but detail is good and the extra resolution comes in handy for cropping in to see the pollen collected on this insect's abdomen.
Color is uniformly excellent from the A2100 IS.
