'Swiping' content

Swipe and Share 2.0 lets people move videos and photos from their mobile device to their TV. And friends can then "swipe" the content to their own mobile gadgets. The software doesn't give access to third-party apps like Miracast or AirPlay however.

A 'remote control for YouTube'

Francisco Varela, head of YouTube's global platform partnership, took to the stage to discuss YouTube and Panasonic's collaboration through the Smart TV Alliance: "We're basically changing your mobile device into your remote control for YouTube." And CNET's Matthew Moskovciak approves: "Easy compatibility between YouTube and TVs is definitely cool. Fits general use pattern: find videos on your phone, then watch them on the big screen."

Panasonic's DMP-BDT230 Blu-ray player includes the company's full Viera Connect suite of streaming-media services, as well as 2D-3D conversion and a Web browser. It also supports Miracast (Panasonic calls it Display Mirroring), which makes it possible to send videos, photos, and music from compatible Android mobile devices (version 4.2 and higher) to your TV.
