Panasonic GX8 adds some seriousness to its style (pictures)

Panasonic completely overhauled the top of the camera, giving it a more enthusiast-oriented vibe with stacked exposure-compensation and mode dials, a more pronounced on/off switch and a programmable function button. The grip's a little bigger as well.

Missing from the top: the pop-up flash that was on the GX7.

The top looks a little more subtle in black.

That tiny logo indicates where you tap your device to initiate a Wi-Fi connection via NFC.

As is becoming a trend, the shutter button sits on top of the grip at an angle.

The layout of the back controls is pretty much the same as on the GX7, though in the newer model the programmable function buttons are more spread out around the body.

Like the GX7, the GX8 has a tilting electronic viewfinder. The GX8's has a bigger eyecup and a higher magnification level.

You get more hardware-control options for autofocus over the GX7, including full-time AF (AFF).

Panasonic brings the GX8 into parity with the rest of its enthusiast cameras with UHD video and its 4K burst-shooting modes.

The GX8 gets an articulated, flip-up-and-twist display in contrast to the GX7's tilting model.
