Oppo's 6-inch R7 Plus offers big screen features at a small price (pictures)

With a 6-inch 1080p screen, the R7 Plus puts the 5.5-inch phablet brigade to shame. Well, as long as you're only worried about real estate and not resolution.

The R7 Plus has an impressive all metal design that belies its mid-level price tag.

The brushed metal rear not only looks good, it helps you keep a grip on the large phone when holding it in one hand.

The 13-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and laser focus sits above the fingerprint scanner.

Once set up, the scanner can be used to easily unlock the R7 Plus. A single touch, even when the screen is off, will unlock and wake up the phone.

The slightly raised edge on the screen curves back down and gives a pleasantly smooth feel to the phone.

Unlike the R7, the R7 Plus doesn't have an array of touch controls on the bottom bezel, keeping everything on screen and shaving some size off.

But it does have some similarities to its smaller cousin: both have Oppo's proprietary fast-charge technology and both have dual SIM-card slots.

At 192 grams (6.77 ounces) it's not a light phone, but its certainly not unreasonable given the screen size and massive 4,100mAh battery.

The R7 Plus is 7.8mm or 0.31 inches thick -- quite a slimline for a phone of this size.
