Light bright

Although released by Microsoft, the Nokia-branded Nokia Wireless Charging Plate is the latest Lumia-ready accessory for select phones.

Alert through a light

It glows when your phone needs a battery top-up, or receives an alert from apps you care about.

Tap to pair

NFC pairing is a snap when you tap the phone to the unit to connect the two. From there, Bluetooth takes over the linkup.

Size-wise

The charging plate is about the same shape as an Apple Magic Mouse, but large enough to hold a 5-inch phone.

Plugging in

A long cable and USB plug means you can position the unit the way you want to get that cable out of view. You'll need to plug it into another power source to get the charge going.

Lit from below

How does the Charging Plate get its glow? From a ring of lights positioned on the unit's underside. (The green ring lights up; this unit also comes in white and orange.)

Slim build

Less than half an inch thick, the unit still rises above the surface to let out the light.

Lumia 930 or 830

Sadly, there are only two Lumia phones that work with the Wireless Charging Plate right now: the Lumia 930 and the 830. Future releases should work as well. Read the full review for more details!

I Got an Early Look at Intel's Glass Packaging Tech for Faster Chips
Rahul Manepalli, right, Intel's module engineering leader, shows a glass substrate panel before it's sliced into the small rectangles that will be bonded to the undersides of hundreds of test processors. The technology, shown here at Intel's CH8 facility in Chandler, Arizona, stands to improve performance and power consumption of advanced processors arriving later this decade. Glass substrates should permit physically larger processors comprised of several small "chiplets" for AI and data center work, but Intel expects they'll trickle down to PCs, too.
