LG's Door-in-Door fridge comes with a magic window now

The LG LFXC24796D is a counter-depth French door fridge with a special window that lets you knock to peek inside. Click through for a closer look.

The fridge showcases LG's favorite fridge feature, the Door-in-Door compartment. Press the button on the right handle, and you'll open the front panel of the fridge, letting you access the in-door shelves without actually opening the fridge itself.

Door-in-Door is nothing new, though. What is new is LG's InstaView window. Give it a double knock, and the refrigerator's interior lights will turn on, letting you see what's inside.

The LFXC24796D is a counter-depth model, which means it's designed to sit flush alongside your kitchen cabinets. That means it isn't quite as deep as standard-size fridges, which kept us from fitting an extra-large pizza box inside. The rest of our test groceries made it inside just fine, though.

All told, the refrigerator boasts a grand total of 23.5 cubic feet of storage space, 15.6 of which are allocated to the fridge up top.

Temperatures came down at the refrigerator's coldest setting (37 degrees F), but the Door-in-Door shelves were still the warmest shelves in the fridge.

Temperatures were steady and consistent throughout all of our tests -- including the Door-in-Door compartment, which consistently ran a little bit warm.

You'll need to spend about $4,400 on this fridge -- $600 more than nearly identical LG models that don't have the InstaView window. That's obviously a pretty steep premium to peek at your groceries -- check out our full review to see if we think it's worth the splurge.
