But there's a catch

In order to get the tablet for $50, you have to sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T.

Hidden costs

That means, on top of the initial $50, you have to pay a monthly fee to use the tablet. That cost depends on your service plan.

Back to the fun stuff

For a $50, the LG G Pad X 8.0 is very impressive. It's a better tablet than the Amazon Fire, another $50 tablet; it has a sharper screen, faster performance and a slimmer design.

Full USB port

You can easily load up the tablet full of your favorite movies if you have a thumbdrive.

Steady streaming

Though its screen isn't as sharp as the Asus Zen Pad Z8's, another great 4G LTE bargain, it's considerably cheaper.

It's a remote control, too

See that small dot all the way to the right of the tablet's top edge? That's an IR blaster.

It allows you to use your tablet as a remote control. Using the preloaded software, it's quick and easy to set up.
