This single-serving brewer can also serve up an entire pot.
Meet Keurig 2.0
The Keurig K500 is one of the flagship brewers from the new "Keurig 2.0" generation of single-serving coffeemakers. Click through for a closer look.
Cup compatibility
Unlike the previous generation, the K500 is compatible only with Keurig-branded K-Cups.
Ease of use
Operation is simple -- just pop the cup in and press the brewer's one button. Fifty seconds later, you'll have a steaming hot cup of joe.
Some cups left behind
Only the cup on the right will work in the K500. The Keurig-branded cup in the middle was produced before January 2014 and lacks the proper label to pass Keurig 2.0's scanner.
Tsk tsk
Try and use a bargain brand or an outdated K-Cup in the K500, and you'll see an error message.
Refills included
The other notable feature of Keurig 2.0 brewers is the ability to brew an entire pot.
K-Carafe Packs
You'll use the new K-Carafe Packs for full-pot brewing. Unlike K-Cups, they're made out of recyclable plastic.
Familiar pack design
The K-Carafe Pack is really just a taller version of the Vue Pack.
Price point
The K500 will retail for $190 and is due at major retailers by September. Be sure to read our full review before upgrading.
