A very personal trainer
Forget about tying a string around your finger to remind you to get off the couch. Designed to be worn all day long, the $129.99 Jawbone Up wraps around your wrist and tracks your movements 24-7. It will also assess the duration and quality of your sleep.
Wrap your wrist with fitness tech
The Jawbone Up is light and flexible, and it loops around wrists comfortably. The device also doesn't snap or buckle into place as traditional wrist-wear such as watches do.
Bendable, not breakable
Encased in a rubbery skin, Jawbone crafted the Up band to be pliable enough to withstand twists yet loose enough to be worn comfortably. The device is also water- and sweat-resistant, so go ahead and shower with it if that floats your boat.
What's in the box
Bundled along with the Jawbone Up is a USB-to-3.5mm headphone mini jack adapter. To charge or sync the Up band, remove its sync port cap and plug it into its adapter (connected to a PC) or into your iPhone's headphone port.
Just one button
The Jawbone Up has only one button. Pressing it controls whether it's in active or sleep mode.
An app for analysis
The Jawbone Up's companion app for iOS displays daily stats for the steps you've taken and time slept. Even better, you can see what percentage these numbers represent in terms of progress toward your goals. Sorry Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry users: for now, the Up app is iOS only.
Share your stats socially
Within the Jawbone Up application, users are encouraged to share steps taken and food eaten with other Up users.
Your sleep uncovered
Take a deep dive into your sleep performance with the Jawbone Up. The device and app provide a breakdown of light vs. deep sleep, the time it took to doze off, and how many times you woke up.
Track the trends
To get a better angle on your data, the Jawbone Up software allows you to view numerous performance categories including sleep, calories consumed, and activity level, plotted against each other over time.
