Check out the impressive outdoor photos from the iPhone 6S Plus's camera (pictures)

Apple's iPhone 6 already packed one of our favourite cameras in a phone, so the boost from 8 to 12 megapixels in the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus came as welcome news.

We were therefore very excited to take the 6S Plus for a spin around an oddly sunny West London to see just how the new camera fares.

This outdoor gallery is the first of a variety of tests we'll be putting the camera through, so keep your eyes firmly fixed on CNET to read everything you need to know about the new phones, including the full reviews.

It started very well in this shot in Ealing's Walpole Park. It's managed to achieve a terrific exposure, with a rich yet natural colour tone.

A delicious coffee, and a delicious picture! There's great detail in this shot, and the contrast is brilliant.

Similarly on this shot of a church, there's a vivid blue sky, yet still plenty of detail in the more shadowy areas of the scene. Contrast is great as well.

The boost in resolution helps the fine details on these shiny conkers really stand out.

This flower scene is a little dark overall as the camera has exposed for the bright colours on the petals. As such, the colours have remained extremely rich.

A slightly colder colour cast is seen on this shot of a large fungus, but it's at least sharp and clear.

Again, these autumnal leaves look a little on the cold side. They're well exposed though; there's great contrast and a ton of detail at full screen. It wouldn't take much to quickly warm up the picture in any editing app.

This wide scene again shows the camera's ability to expose brilliantly, even when there are areas of very bright sky and shadowy trees. The shot looks gorgeous, thanks to the strong, natural colours.
