Svelte
With a big touchpad, a bright 3K2K display with skinny bezels and a slim profile, the MateBook X Pro's design is everything you look for in the ultraportable aesthetic.
Reflective display
The display covers the sRGB gamut and it's very accurate, but it's reflective -- like a lot of competing laptops' screens -- which can be annoying.
Why?
The webcam pops up from its spot in the function-key row. While it's nice to be able to physically shut it away, the location is even worse than Dell's notorious up-nose view from the bottom of its laptop displays. This is the one big flaw in an otherwise great design.
A little thin on connections
The trade-off for the size and heat is connections: It's only got two USB-C and one Type-A for data.
Right side
The lone USB Type-A connection.
Matte gray
The laptop's outer construction is solid-feeling aluminum in an attractive matte gray that's not as prone to fingerprints as some.
Power and security
The power button doubles as a fingerprint reader, and the location is a lot better than buttons on the sides that you have to grope around to find.
Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard has ful-size keys with no layout oddities and sufficient travel and feedback for touch typing. The Windows Precision touchpad is big and responsive.
