Galaga Special Edition for Android spins out (pictures)
The classic standup arcade game Galaga has made its way onto the Android platform. We take a closer look at the new version's updated graphics and unfortunately disappointing gameplay.
Updated graphics
As expected, Galaga Special Edition sports some updated graphics. They're nowhere near console-quality, but they're definitely better than the '80s originals.
Extra challenges
The Challenges menu adds new levels to what can otherwise be some very repetitive gameplay.
No more grid formation
In the original Galaga game, enemies would eventually settle in a grid formation in the center of the screen. With this updated version, though, they continue to fly around in all directions.
Some help here, please?
The companion satellite can be deployed to help mow down enemies. However, with its unpredictable directional shooting, it sometimes doesn't help at all.
Watch out for those ads
Galaga Special Edition serves up ads every chance it gets -- even when you've just started the game. This can get very annoying, to say the least.
