Dell and Alienware update their gaming gear for fall

You can see Dell made it so slim that the power connector doesn't even fit comfortably.

Dell dropped the rubberized covering; kids tended to get their sticky fingerprints on it and it was hard to get them off.

The old grille had more character and looked more game-y with red peekaboo in it.

Though it retains the same keyboard, now it's inset.

This was the first time we'd gotten to see it in person -- the Intel Core i9 model looks identical, albeit with slightly different hardware.

The Ryzen Threadripper has a huge die size -- it's under that alien-headed heat sink.

The two 34-inch displays, the AW3418DW and AW3418HW, use the same stand and chassis, but the panels are completely different. Very confusing. The DW is for when you need more detail and less refresh speed, while the HW is lower resolution with a higher maximum refresh rate.

Both displays are G-Sync compatible.

While the designs may be different, the navigation and menu layout is much the same as Dell's monitors.

The two panels have different degrees of curvature.

G-Sync and high refresh rates can generate a lot of heat. Hence, a lot of venting.

Alienware's stands are very stylized.

The stand allows for more tilting and swiveling than many of the curved displays I've seen.
