Massive Dalek glows

LAS VEGAS -- Massive Audio, maker of car audio gear, unleashed a full-size Dalek studded with the company's equipment here at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show. The Dalek was built by hand and integrates 40 DX-series speakers and a Bluetooth monitor on the front. The lights flash when it speaks.

Plunger of doom

The Massive Audio Dalek's plunger was hand-turned by the builders, just one of many painstaking details that went into the three-month build. The creation is terrorizing the show floor at CES.

Dalek made from audio gear

Massive Audio's Dalek project is designed to honor 50 years of "Doctor Who" while attracting geeks to the car stereo equipment company's booth at CES. It does both very effectively.

Amps behind the Dalek

The back side of Massive Audio's Dalek sports a DBX4 amplifier. It provides a lot of oomph to the 40 speakers on the Dalek's body. The creature was nearly kicked off the CES show floor for being too loud.

Daleks don't do stairs

The Massive Audio Dalek is a "Doctor Who"-inspired publicity stunt for Bluetooth-connected car stereo equipment. Several months of work went into the creation, which will eventually be auctioned off for charity.

Posing with the Massive Dalek

CNET Crave writer Amanda Kooser poses with the Massive Audio Dalek. The full-size creation invaded the show floor at CES 2014, but has so far failed to actually exterminate anything.
