Ctrl+Console has a "foyer" that contains all of the apps you've bought. You click the gear icon to access connection settings.

The desktop utility opens an IP connection between Lightroom and your computer; the iPad app transmits keyboard shortcuts to Lightroom via the Wi-Fi network that both are connected to. This may not work on some corporate computers with security settings that may prevent the system from opening any ports.
Because of the big, simplified interface, the company thinks the product should appeal to new Lightroom users who don't want to memorize shortcut keys like P for flagging.
In Survey you get the same controls, but this mode allows you to process batches of photos.
