Cosplay takes center stage at New York Comic Con 2017
New Yorkers love an excuse to dress up, and Comic Con is no exception. Check out the best costumes I saw this annual convention at the Javitz Center.
Smurfette poses for a photo outside the entrance to New York Comic Con.
The closer I got to the Javitz Center, the more costumes I saw. This fellow said he was dressed as DJ Marshmallow.
Just a typical day in NYC.
Just crossing the street here, don't worry about IT.
Alex from "A Clockwork Orange".
A Greyworm from "Game of Thrones" helps his friend with her Madeline Prior costume before they make their entrance.
Princess Bubblegum is geared up to go inside.
In my favorite shot of the day, Zoom poses with Green Arrow.
You're gonna have to go through a metal detector.
I wonder what they do if your whole costume is metal armor.
Aw, he's making a heart with his hands.
The crowd is into it. Even before you go into the actual convention, everyone is getting selfies with everyone else.
This guy made an original costume he calls "Blue Galaxy Knight."
This is Vegeta from "Dragonball Z".
This guy put on a Deadpool mask under his Left Shark costume. You know, from the Super Bowl halftime show a few years ago.
Just a couple of Wonder Women.
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, always a favorite.
Another impressive costume.
Watch out, princess.
So yeah, "Game of Thrones" is hot right now.
This might have been my favorite one: Man-Thing.
And this Joker too.
They all wanted pictures of his costume.
This ice queen was not taking questions.
These people are doing something from Final Fantasy 7. That's all I could make out from behind the rad cardboard masks.
This is Demona from "Gargoyles".
This is Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
Boris the Wolf and Sammy Lawrence from Bendy and the Ink Machine. They want you to know: They are not together, they just look good together.
Medieval Times sent some of their most enthusiastic characters to represent the franchise.
I'm guessing this guy is something Marvel-related.
This is Owl from "Megg, Mogg, and Owl", a comic strip.
Captain America and Dark Phoenix, who was sporting some pretty creepy contact lenses.
Harley Quinn, a popular costume with the ladies.
Cyberman and Dalek, from "Doctor Who".
Shy Guys from Mario.
Attendees were offered green screen photos (presumably with the background of their choice) in this photo booth.
This child-sized costumed person was freaking everyone out. I'm guessing they were hired by the same "Saw" promotion team that was pushing postcards.
Magneto got past the metal detectors.
Adult Swim's "Aqua Teen Hunger Force".
And here's D.Va from Overwatch.
And this is Green Arrow.
The Imperial Royal Guard, et al.
It's a "Dragonball Z" sort of family.
Lady Loki and friend.
Star Wars characters are all over the place.
I'm really not into watching torture so no, I don't want a postcard advertising the new "Saw" movie.
Meet Kratos from God of War.
The Night King was pretty much cleaning up in the "can I get a selfie with you" department.
This is Spring Man from a game called Arms.
This is in reference to Donkey Kong, a classic video game.
These circus performers were on their break when I asked about their costumes, but they did a stunt for my picture anyway. Thanks!
This group of friends is representing Team Kirby from the game Overwatch.
Random Jedi Knights here and there.
This is a "Hipster Leloo" from "The Fifth Element" and yet another Harley Quinn.
This is Sherry Cromwell from "A Certain Magical Index".
This is a lot of Power Rangers.
Here you've got Gwen Pool, Deadpool and Luigi Pool. BFF.
Mira, Aqualad and Aquaman.
This guy's schtick is that he's a Schick Razor. Yeah, they had a razor ad booth at Comic Con.
Ghost Rider and Gants.
Linguine from "Ratatouille" and Jessie from "Toy Story 2".
Adularia here is a character from this woman's adventures in Dungeons and Dragons.
More Tim Burton: "The Nightmare Before Christmas".
Spider-Man and Silk.
I was pretty sure this was a paid model and I was correct. Commissioned costume courtesy of Black Powdered Earth's booth. She's portraying a woman from a video game called Metal Gear Solid.
Some booths had hired models to portray characters for people to take pictures of. I hope she's having fun.
Conan the Barbarian had an accent and everything.
I'm pretty sure this is just a random dinosaur.
Star Wars characters are everywhere.
