Canon is marking ten years of the hugely popular IXUS compact camera brand with the stylish new IXUS 1000 HS. It's chucked a bunch of 10s in there to celebrate: 10 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, 1080p video, and, er, a 7cm screen.
The theme falls down in the high-speed mode -- instead of 10 frames per second, which would have been very cool, we get a not very round 3.7 shots at full resolution, or 8.8fps at 2.5 megapixels. You can also dial the resolution right down for 240fps super slo-mo video.
Video is 1080p high definition at 24fps, with stereo sound. You can zoom while filming and Canon reckons the zoom is quiet enough to not interfere with your sound.
