The main upgrade to the 2017 model of the 15-inch MacBook Pro is its seventh-generation "Kaby Lake" Intel Core i processor.
The new 15-inch MacBook Pro retains the OLED touch bar across the top of the keyboard, like the previous model.
The other big 2017 upgrade: better graphics. The baseline 15-inch MacBook Pro features the Radeon Pro 555, while the $2,799 model boasts the Radeon Pro 560. (It's £2,699 in the UK and AU$4,099 in Australia.)
The starting US price is $2,399 for the 2.8GHz seventh-generation Core i7 version. (It's £2,349 in the UK and AU$3,499 in Australia.)
The new 15-inch MacBook Pro maintains the same look as last year's model.
In addition to the Touch Bar, the 15-inch MacBook Pro features a Touch ID fingerprint reader, similar to the iPhone's.
Unlike pre-2016 MacBooks, the Apple logo no longer lights up when in use.
You'll still need dongles for older peripherals: The 2017 MacBook Pros have four Thunderbolt 3-enabled USB-C ports. The power adapter is also USB-C.
If you still need legacy ports, the older 2015 MacBook Pro -- with USB-A, HDMI and Thunderbolt 2 ports -- is still available.
The new 15-inch MacBook Pro is essentially identical in appearance to last year's models -- weighing 4 pounds (1.83 kg) with a thickness of 15.5 mm.
All of the new MacBooks, including the 15-inch MacBook Pro, will get more features later this year with "High Sierra" -- the next version of the MacOS operating system.
