Sybase on Tuesday said it shipped a new version of its database software for Apple Computer's "Panther" server operating system. The release, Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.1, supports larger amounts of data, includes new management tools, and better performance than previous versions, Sybase said.

Panther, which went on sale in October, offers an improved finder, better compatibility with Windows networks, and a new feature called Expose that makes it easier to manage multiple open windows. Sybase said Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5.1 pricing starts at $1,495 per server.
