Slack was down for many people on Tuesday, as a service disruption dragged on for hours. Problems with the app started around 5:50 a.m. PT, according to outage monitoring site Down Detector.

"We're investigating the issue where Slack is not loading for some users. We're looking into the cause and will provide more information as soon as it's available," Slack said on its status page Tuesday morning. More than two hours later, the company said it was seeing "signs of improvement" but was still looking to fully resolve the issue.

Users may be having issues sending and receiving messages and loading threads, and they may experience problems accessing the platform entirely. Slack went down Monday evening as well for some users, but it's unknown if the current issue is related.

Outages are common in the online world. Typically, they're resolved relatively quickly.

A company spokesperson told CNET that Slack is investigating the problem and to keep an eye on the @slackstatus Twitter account and status.slack.com for updates.
