Short Take: AOL tests Instant Messenger 2.0

America Online has released a beta version of the second generation of its Instant Messenger client. AOL Instant Messenger 2.0 will be available only for existing members, but will be available for download on AOL.com after the first round of testing. David Gang, AOL senior vice president of strategic development, declined to comment about whether recently acquired Mirabilis' ICQ client technology would be incorporated into the product.
