K-Tel is continuing its ride on the Net wave today, announcing that it will publish Billboard magazine's album, singles, and video charts each week on its Web site.

K-Tel, perhaps best known for its compilation albums advertised mostly on late-night television, has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts since it announced the launch of its Web site, K-Tel Express. The site, which offers more than 250,000 albums for sale, launched today.

The firm's stock skyrocketed at the initial announcement, and since then the company declared a 2-for-1 stock split.

K-Tel shares jumped more than 27 percent in today's trading, rising 10.47 points to close at 48. The stock has traded as high as 49.5 and as low as 5.53 during the past 52 weeks.

Under the terms of today's deal, Billboard album charts to be featured on K-Tel Express include the Top 40 of the publication's Top 200 album chart and the Top 10 of its Country, R&B, Latin, Contemporary Jazz, and Classical Album charts. Singles charts include the Top 20 of Billboard'sHot 100 Singles and the Top 10 of Hot Adult Contemporary, Mainstream Rock, Modern Rock, Hot Country, Hot R&B, Hot Rap, Hot Dance Music-Club, and Hot Latin.

K-Tel Express also will publish the Top 10 of Billboard's Top Video Rentals, Top Video Sales, Music Video Sales, and Kid Video Sales, according to K-Tel and BPI Communications, which publishes Billboard.

K-Tel faces stiff competition in the Net music retail space from established players such as CDnow and Music Boulevard. Billboard content and charts also appear on Entertainment News Daily, which is published by the New York Times Syndicate.
