That's a $60 value and a Cheapskate exclusive. Your conference-calling life is about to get way easier.
If there's a hell, I suspect conference calls occupy a big part of the day. (In fact, they probably go something like this.)
Actually, the calls themselves aren't so bad; it's the all the logistics involved in scheduling everyone, dialing in, remembering PINs, seeing who's on the call, figuring out who's talking, and so on.
UberConference makes the experience significantly less hellish. There's a free version that's actually quite good, but for a limited time, you can get a six-month subscription to UberConference Pro absolutely free. That's after applying coupon code CNETUBER during the sign-up process. (Update: This code is good for new users only.)
This is a Cheapskate exclusive, folks -- and a $60 value. UberConference Pro normally costs $10 monthly (and well worth it, if you ask me).
To get the deal, click through the above link, then click Sign Up for Pro Today. Use a social network if you like, or provide an e-mail address and password. Next you'll choose a number based on the area code you prefer. Once you get through to the payment page, click Enter Promo Code, then paste in the code above. Good news: You don't need to supply a credit card.
So UberConference works like this: Using your browser or the Android or iOS app, you can schedule a conference call or start one straight away. The apps let you choose contacts to invite to the call, though you can also send the details via text or e-mail to anyone not in your address list.
Because you have a Pro account, there's no PIN to distribute; you get a custom (and local) phone number for attendees to dial into. (That's especially convenient for anyone dialing in while driving.) You also get a custom URL (uberconference.com/cheapskate, for example) and support for up to 100 callers. (The Basic version limits you to 10.)
Once the call is under way, you can use the app (or browser) to see who's on the call, and it'll even highlight who's speaking, which is fairly amazing.
You can check out the other features for yourself (and here's a quick video showing the Android app in action), but suffice it to say, UberConference is really and truly awesome for anyone who regularly schedules and/or attends conference calls. And six free months of Pro makes it even better.
Bonus deal: Reading time! If you love books the way I love books, you've probably considered subscribing to Entitle, which is kind of like Audible for e-books: For $9.99 per month, you get to choose two titles from a growing library (currently 125,000-plus) and keep them forever.
That's already a solid deal, but here's an even better one: StackSocial is offering a six-month Entitle subscription for $39.99, the equivalent of getting two months for free. Or, to put it another way, you get 12 books (to keep) for $40, which works out to just $3.33 per book.
