CompuServe names senior VP

America Online subsidiary CompuServe names Joel Davidson as its senior vice president of market development and operations.

America Online subsidiary CompuServe today named Joel Davidson as its senior vice president of market development and operations.

Davidson will be responsible for driving the Internet service provider's product marketing and CompuServe's Custom Solutions business, determining CompuServe's future product and service direction and working with partners, the company said.

Davidson's most recent experience seems a far cry from the high-technology business. He served as a vice president at Heinz's Pet Products Division in Cincinnati, where he was responsible for brands such as 9-Lives cat food and Kibbles 'n Bits dog food.

But Davidson did spend two years as executive vice president for Rogers' Communications, the largest Canadian cable provider.

He will report to Audrey Weil, general manager of CompuServe.
