CBS traffic gets boost from "Big Brother"

CBS.com hit the top spot as the fastest-growing Web site during the week ended July 8, according to a new report by Nielsen/NetRatings. The research company said traffic to CBS.com skyrocketed 127 percent, jumping from 282,000 unique visitors to 639,000. Nielsen said CBS' reality TV show, "Big Brother 2," accounted for more than 29 percent of CBS.com's audience. CBS.com was followed by 3turtles.com with a 113.2 percent increase in traffic; Memolink.com with 98.9 percent; Springstreet.com with 95.3 percent; Homefair.com with 90.4 percent; Bn.com with 88.6 percent; Nascar.com with 77.7 percent; and VH1.com with 77.1 percent. Last week, CBS Television teamed with RealNetworks to charge admission fees for Internet video streams of "Big Brother 2." The show features 12 strangers who live together as they compete for $500,000 by avoiding getting booted from a heavily bugged house.
