Angry Birds crash lands onto Android

In case you missed the news over the weekend, one of the iPhone's most popular game titles has finally landed on the Android.

Rovio's Angry Birds has long-since become a portable gaming phenomenon on Apple's iOS platform, with the games developer finally ready to stretch its wings to other major mobile platforms. After recently announcing the availability of the game on the Palm webOS platform, Rovio has released Angry Birds in a "Lite Beta" format on the Android Market, meaning it's a free download, but it could be buggy on some devices.

If you're new to the Angry Birds craze, the game is brilliantly simple. Your goal is to slingshot a flock of the titular avian towards stinky, egg-pinching pigs with a seriously poor knowledge of structural engineering housed within tremendously flimsy buildings. The result is a game that is easy to pick up, but with enough tweaks in the gameplay to make it challenging over the long run.
