From the Cheapskate: That's a hefty $125 off the regular price, and you don't even have to wait till Friday. Plus: The best TiVo Roamio OTA deal to date!

A few quick housekeeping notes, cheeps...First, I'll be here on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to serve up some hand-picked and exclusive deals. Second, don't forget to enter the Cheapskate's 9th-anniversary giveaway -- you still have a few days to get your entry in (and I'm loving some of your answers!).

Finally, in case you missed it yesterday and haven't noticed, there are now three ways to access the pop-out comments section: the upper toolbar that appears when you scroll down, the bottom of the social-media bar at left and the spiffy new Join the Conversation button at the end of the post. Better?

I had something a little more interesting planned for today's deal, but it fell through at the last minute. Thankfully, this one's quite good as well, albeit entirely different.

For a limited time, and while supplies last, Best Buy has the iPad Mini 4 (32GB) for $274.99 shipped (plus tax), a savings of $125. It's available in all three colors (silver, spay gray and gold), and you can get the 128GB model for $100 more.

Why on earth would a cheapskate (or, for that matter, The Cheapskate) buy an iPad? Well, for $400, he wouldn't. But for $275? That's worth considering.

I'll fess up: I own both an iPad Air and an iPad Mini. As I've said before, I just like iOS better than Android. And I think the iPad hardware outshines that of any other tablet.

I reach for the Mini when I want to read a book or watch a video at the gym. It's just the right size for activities like that.

But, hey, that's just me. CNET found the Mini 4 lacking in a few areas, though the biggest drawback was price. Bottom line: You know what you're looking for in a tablet, and if it's this, finally you can get Apple's current-gen model at a hefty discount.

Bonus deal: Cut that cord! TiVo's Roamio OTA is a great antenna-powered DVR -- or would be except for the steep price. For a limited time, you can get the refurbished Roamio OTA 500GB for $199.99, a price that includes lifetime service.

The TiVo is a way better over-the-air DVR than the woefully overpriced Channel Master DVR+, which starts at $249 without Wi-Fi or any storage. If you've mostly moved on to the likes of Netflix but still want local channels, grab this Roamio deal before it's gone.
