Casady & Greene, a small software publisher best known for its utilities for the Mac operating system, announced that it is going out of business this week. In a message posted on the company's Web site, it blamed ongoing financial problems. "We have endured many industry downturns, but the last three years have presented a series of economic disasters from which we were unable to rebound," the message stated.

The statement says individual developers will continue to support most of the products distributed by the company, such as the TimeSlice billing application and Spell Catcher spellchecker.
