IronPort armors e-mail with Brightmail
E-mail appliance maker IronPort Systems announced on Monday that it has licensed Brightmail's antispam technology for its newest product, the IronPort C60. The San Bruno, Calif., company focuses on providing optimized e-mail systems, and Brightmail's technology adds more advanced filtering of unsolicited messages. Brightmail released the latest version of its software, Anti-spam 5.0, on Monday.
The new IronPort C60 can process 500,000 messages of 40 kilobytes every hour, according to the appliance maker. Moreover, the device can filter out Internet addresses based on a SenderBase rating, which measures how much an Internet address can be trusted. Addresses that are the source of spam have lower scores.
