Feeling patriotic on this President's Day, Sybase today agreed to sponsor the Rock the Vote Web site, a new site created by a nonprofit to provide young people with information about politics and government.

The site helps users write to elected representatives in Congress and find information about local primary elections and voter registration. The site also features interviews with rock stars, who explain why they vote and encourage others to vote, too.

Sybase is contributing database and Web authoring software to help the Rock the Vote nonprofit organization and its Los Angeles-based partner, AND Interactive Communications, update the site. For example, the Sybase database software will let users find out who their senator is simply by typing in their zip code.

Rock the Vote organizers say the site has been getting 10,000 hits per day since it went live three weeks ago.
