Short Take: UCSD blocks Napster software

The University of California, San Diego, has barred the use of Napster music software on campus computers, according to a message on UCSD's ResNet Web site. Napster lets users share music compressed in the MP3 format with others using the software over the Internet, which has gotten it in trouble with the music industry. Other schools have had to block Napster, as its popularity among college students has clogged school networks.
