Short Take: Tech coalition praises Commerce Department's crypto decision

The Alliance for Network Security is applauding the Commerce Department's decision to approve the export of strong encryption. In July, ANS members including Cisco, Intel, and Microsoft asked it to support a "private doorbell" that would let network operators give law enforcement with a court order access to messages to or from a specific individual. The White House last month relaxed some of those regulations.
