Short take: Bill Gurley joins Benchmark Capital

Bill Gurley, a closely watched investment player, has joined venture firm as a general partner. Prior to joining the firm, Gurley was a partner at Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and was ranked a top technology analyst by Institutional Investor magazine. Gurley joined Benchmark for its "team-oriented" culture, and the venture firm selected him for his track record and the advice he could lend to its portfolio of companies.
