An alternative press portal has launched, featuring access to 45 sites that offer local content from across the United States. Among the local content providers on the Newcity.com service are the San Francisco Bay Guardian, the Detroit Metro Times, the Philadelphia City Paper, the Chicago Newcity, and the New Orleans Gambit. The site also offers search, chat, and free email services.
