Real Media to expand e-mail services

Real Media, an online marketing company, says it has partnered with online newsletter provider Topica to expand its e-mail management services. Real Media, a New York-based unit of media services company PubliGroupe, is bolstering its e-mail services in an effort to compete in the rapidly consolidating market for online list services and e-mail advertising. In the last year, DoubleClick has been growing its e-mail services by buying FloNetworks and MessageMedia. Through Monday's deal, Real Media will begin selling a customized version of Topica's e-mail software for publishers. Real Media, whose publishing clients include The New York Times, Bloomberg and Forbes, plans to combine the product with its Open AdStream technology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
