Quote of the day: Vista beta more for 'bitheads'

Microsoft's Jim Allchin says the first test release of Vista is about "plumbing" and not likely to interest even tech enthusiasts.

Microsoft's Jim Allchin, the group vice president managing all Windows development work, told CNET News.com that the Beta 1 of Vista, released Wednesday, "isn't really for even tech enthusiasts." They'll be more interested in Beta 2, he said.

"This beta is to test out some of the capabilities that we've got, if you will, in the plumbing...Beta 1 is not what I would call deeply interesting unless you are a real bithead." Click here for the full interview.
