Palm devices to get a memory boost

Palm Solutions Group, in collaboration with PalmSource engineers, has developed a software enhancement that extends the amount of memory devices using Palm OS 5 can support. The software updates the memory manager used with the operating system. Palm Solutions Group is the hardware division of Palm, while PalmSource is the software subsidiary.

The software, announced Thursday, will increase the memory limit from 16MB to 128MB so that future devices will be able to store more content such as music, images and files. Palm Solutions Group declined to comment on when devices using the enhancement will be available.
