New tool links old mainframes to Web
Open Environment announced a new tool to tie old mainframe applications to the Web.
Mambo lets developers build intranet applications that combine Web client access with links to existing legacy applications. The server portion of Mambo applications can be deployed on multiple operating systems, including Unix and Windows NT. The tool also connects to back-end database servers from Oracle, Sybase, and Informix Software.
Mambo generates C, C++, and HTML code. It includes a development environment, code debugger, project management tools, and a bundled copy of SoftQuad International's HoTMetaL Pro Web authoring tool. Prices start at $2,495 per developer.
