Why You Can Trust CNET Netflix fine-tunes its Android app
The latest revamp gives the Android version the same look, feel, and features as its iOS counterparts.
Netflix users should now have an easier time finding their favorite movies and TV shows via their Android devices.
Unveiled over the weekend, the latest changes to Netflix's Android app conjure up the same interface that was already part of the iPhone and iPad versions.
Opening the Netflix app on your Android phone or tablet displays thumbnails for items that you started watching but never finished, so you can easily pick up where you left off. The app then blankets the screen with the familiar rows, showing you the top 10 picks based on your preferences, your Instant Queue, and other suggested titles by genre.
More titles and galleries now fill up the screen, so you have an ample choice of movies and TV series to view without having to search. But if you need to find a specific title, the search field rests in the upper right corner.
Tapping on a title displays a synopsis and other details, while double-tapping a title immediately opens it in the player. Tapping the Browse menu in the upper left corner displays a list of genres, including TV shows, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction, and Documentaries. Parents can also tap the Children and Family category to find kid-friendly titles.
Android users can download the free Netflix app from Google Play or from Amazon's Android Appstore.
