Net encryption firm taps new CEO

ZixIt, which offers Internet encryption and other security products and services, has named John Ryan its chief executive. Ryan, 45, was previously chief executive of Entrust Technologies, another Internet security and encryption company. Ryan replaces David Cook, who assumes the title of founder. Former Chairman Jeff Papows becomes co-vice chairman of the board. Publicly traded ZixIt won attention last year with its deal to supply portal giant Yahoo with encryption technology for its Web-based e-mail system.
