Marc Andreessen joins Orbitz board

Online travel company Orbitz on Monday named Netscape co-founder Marc Andreessen to its board of directors. Andreessen is credited with helping develop the first Internet browser at the University of Illinois and is a co-founder of Opsware, a provider of data center automation software. Chicago-based Orbitz launched an initial public offering in December.

"As an Internet visionary, Marc will be a valuable addition to our board. Few people possess as much Internet commerce and technology experience as Marc," Orbitz Chairman Jeffrey Katz said in a statement. "His insight will help us continue to deliver innovative products and services to Orbitz users."
