JBoss migration service targets incumbents
The JBoss Migration Assessment provides recommendations and processes for moving Java applications from one application to the JBoss Application Server.
Open-source server software company JBoss introduced on Tuesday a set of services to ease the migration of customer applications from competing Java application servers.
The JBoss Migration Assessment includes a common set of recommendations and processes for moving Java applications from one application to the JBoss Application Server, which conforms with Java server standards. The company, which makes its money primarily from support services, also provides specialized tools and training material. Because JBoss does not charge for an upfront software license, the company claims it can undercut established Java application server providers, such as BEA Systems and IBM, on price.
