Google Offers expands: New cities, deal partners
More daily deals from Google Offers are on the way. The company has signed on 14 new deal partners and added four more cities.
Google Offers continues to expand.
The daily-deals arm of the search giant announced 14 new deal partners and new personalization features making the process of finding and receiving relevant deals in one location more seamless for consumers. Google Offers also branched out to four new cities this week: San Jose, San Diego, Minneapolis and Baltimore.
"If deals aren't relevant or don't match your interests, they're spam," Nitin Mangtani, product manager for Google Offers, told CNET. So to broaden its consumer appeal and make deals more targeted, Google is adding new inventory categories such as luxury experiences, family-friendly outings, classes and outdoor adventures. Initially, local deals offering this new specialized inventory are only available to San Francisco Bay Area residents. In coming months, Google says it will roll out these offerings to additional cities.
Google has been moving aggressively in the daily deals space this year, as it sees big opportunities to tie together local advertising with real-time, geo-targeted discounts sent directly to consumers' mobile phones.
Today's new daily deal partners for Google Offers include: Gilt City, Plum District, PopSugar Shop, Dealfind, GolfNow, Mamapedia, and Juice in the City.
There's also a new personalization quiz at Google Offers designed to help consumers find deals they really want. Once consumers specify the types of deals they're looking for, Google will only send the most relevant offers via email. Interests can be updated or changed at any time. And the quiz is available in all 17 cities where Google Offers has a presence.
