eUniverse faces patent infringement suit
Secure e-mail provider Tumbleweed Communications said Wednesday that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against online greeting card service eUniverse. The suit comes after Tumbleweed this month secured licensing deals with Hallmark.com and AmericanGreetings.com over Tumbleweed patents. Terms of those deals were not disclosed. Tumbleweed said its patent portfolio includes six granted U.S. patents and 19 U.S. patent applications, including U.S. Patent No. 6,192,407 for "Private, Trackable URLs for Directed Document Delivery," the technology at issue in the eUniverse suit.
