Apple updates Java for the Mac

Apple Computer on Monday updated the Java software used in the Mac OS X operating system. Java for Mac OS X version 1.4.1 is designed to offer better support for XML (Extensible Markup Language) and security, to allow improved Java operation within Mac's and to enable Java applications to take better advantage of Aqua and Quartz Extreme. Apple said the move also lays the groundwork to be able to more quickly update the Java Virtual Machine used in Mac OS X.
