Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

Imagine, if you will, a game that's a little like Mario, only without the colours and pipes. Here's you, a little dude, racing through 2D, eight-bit levels to beat certain goals and win stars. It looks easy, but it's, well, not; you have a very short timer, so you can either choose to race the clock, or to collect the coins, trying not to be smooshed by monsters along the way — a task made much more difficult if you're used to the timing and control of Mario's jumps. I don't think it'll be for everyone, but the free version certainly sweetens the deal.
