Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

I confess, I am really not good at languages. I like online courses because there's no pressure; you can go at your own pace. Babbel is a free language school of this ilk. It has a bunch of supplementary vocabulary apps for Android and iPhone, so you can keep learning on the go. You'll still have to jump online for the more advanced stuff, such as grammar, but there are eleven apps in the series to choose from, including French, German, Turkish and Indonesian. You simply enter a topic to view a word and hear it spoken; you then speak it back. Then you can learn how to apply that word. It's practical, easy to use and makes the process really comfortable.
