Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

Made by security researchers at the University of Michigan, App Profiles is designed to help you understand what your apps are actually doing. Ever wondered why a game might need access to your call logs or text messages? App Profiles analyses the apps to find out exactly why it requires those permissions. Not every app has been analysed yet, but you can send requests, and the team will send you the analysis once it has completed its examination. You can also send feedback and indicate what app behaviours you particularly dislike, which in turn helps the team conduct further research. It's win-win, all the way.
