Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus adds up to dual-core power

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is an upgraded version of Sammy's original 7-inch Android tablet, now boasting dual-core power and Honeycomb software.

The 7.0 Plus comes minus excess fat: it's thinner than the original Galaxy Tab, measuring just 9.96mm in width and weighing 345g.

The new Tab is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, with 1GB RAM. It runs the latest version of Google's Android software for tablets, Honeycomb 3.2, with Samsung's TouchWiz interface on top for a bit of extra polish.

The tablet boasts a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash. It shoots 720p high-definition video too, and there's a 2-megapixel camera in the front for making video calls. It also packs GPS, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.

There's now a Tab to fit almost every pocket: as well as the original 7-inch model, there's a Galaxy Tab 7.7, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Tab 10.1 -- not to mention the 5-inch Galaxy Note.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus comes in the usual 16GB and 32GB flavours, with a microSD slot for extra storage. It goes on sale first in Indonesia and Austria, of all places, at the end of October, and Samsung says it will be available in the UK "later this year".
